Why won’t this form accept my photo?

Check the actual file, not just its name.

Check dimensions and file weight separately

Pixels describe image dimensions. KB describes the encoded file size. A photo can meet one requirement and fail the other. Read both limits in the current application instructions.

Convert rather than rename

Changing .png to .jpg in the filename does not convert the image. Use a converter that decodes the original and exports a real JPEG. Our tools do this in your browser.

Use the original

A tiny screenshot or compressed messaging-app copy may be too blurry. Use the original camera file and start again if the face is unclear. Upscaling cannot recover the original detail.

Check for live capture

Some portals capture a live photograph instead of accepting an uploaded file. A prepared photo cannot replace that step. Use the portal camera instructions and prepare a signature only if requested.

Requirements change. Check the official instructions for your exact document, age and submission route before applying.
